Is this advertisement we are greeted by a beautiful girl bathing, not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of war. The commercial is for an app called Game of War. Kate Upton is meant to represent the goddess Athena. Her bath is rudely interrupted by battle cries. Hair still dripping wet she hops on a horse and rides to battle. In the short distance to the battlefield her hair has dried, the most unrealistic thing about this ad if you ask me. The Implication that she is a warrior leading others to battle is laughable to me. The first thing that came to mind when first seeing this was “that girl would die in battle instantly.” She rides on a horse with a metal corset pushing her ample cleavage up to her chin while her shoulders and arms lay bare. In contrast the men around her have swords and full armor on. This commercial is using a beautiful girl to lure in attention. The scene with the tub pulls you in and the various shoots of her bouncing boobs carry through the rest of the ad. If this was just an ad about the game, but it didn’t feature her or another girl like her, it surely would not be as memorable. Sex sells and with this commercial Game of War cashed in on it.
